Hello everyone,
This week has been great :) Sister Kerr and I have been dealing with a lot of rain this week! Almost every day. Except for Saturday, where our stake put on a live nativity for the general public, we had camels, goats, donkeys, the whole shabang! Over 2,000 people came to it, which many were not members of this church so it was a great opportunity for missionary work!
One miracle we had this week was on sunday, a woman came to church that had met us 5 weeks ago that we had prayed with. She told us that she loved to learn of God and that she could really feel His spirit with us and at church! We are planning to teach her this week. This experience has taught me that we have to be faithfilled and diligent constantly and that never do our efforts go to waste! God's timing is perfect and one day can be our timing too.
I know that God lives and that He loves us so much, so much that He sent His Only Begotten Son to die for us. I pray that we can all remember the simplicity and humility of the season, the babe that was born in a stable that came to save us all. I hope everyone has an incredible Christmas season! Love you all.

Me and Sister Kerr (in the corner) with the blonde hermanas that live with us and the creole elders in our ward :) we went to the beach last week

TIS THE SEASON

Oh my goodness I love this time of year :) I hope everyone is getting ready for the holidays and spreading Christmas cheer! Our Lord and Savior is too good to us and we have great reason to rejoice and serve others.

This week we had a lot of miracles/crazy things happen! We have a family that just moved into our ward this last month that has referred 2 of their friends to take the missionary lessons, and soon to refer another! It has been really cool to see their testimonies grow of God's timing because they weren't really completely sure why they came to Florida and it has been a hard lifestyle for them to adjust to. But they have been able to see the influence they have on those people in their lives that they shine to and are bringing these souls unto Christ. One of their friends in particular is named Jude who just moved here. He loves his Savior and will do anything to learn more of Him.

The Christmas season has been the perfect time to try and help less active members see the love the church has for them. We have worked this week with the cutest lady named Sister Dancey who is from India. She hasn't been able to come to church for a long time because of car problems and we have been working to organize transportation for her and her nonmember daughter for the longest time and finally this week it happened :) my heart was so full to hear how much she loves the sacrament.

One funny thing that happened this week, in our ward/congregation, we have me and my companion and elder missionaries that speak creole. Whenever we meet someone that speaks creole and little english, we get their information and give it to the elders. this week, the elders in our ward took the wrong information and showed up to one of our investigator's houses and taught them about the restoration of the gospel. They got through and came out and that's when we drove up for OUR appointment with him! We were laughing pretty good, especially since they said that he was really confused on why the elders were at his house. oops.

I pray that everyone has a safe holiday season! Love you!

Sister Smith, Anderson and I the day of his baptism

Monday, November 30, 2015

Hello friends and family!
This week I got my new companion, her name is Sister Kerr from Portland, OR. It's been awesome being with her, she is a fireball, a really hard worker, extremely faithfilled, trusting in the Lord and His plan, and a firm believer in creating success. She has been out on her mission for about 3 weeks now and she is doing fantastic as a missionary! We were able to spend thanksgiving with recent converts to the gospel and we had a great time. The hospitality here is so kind and our ward treats us very well. I hope everyone had a fantastic thanksgiving! One thought that we have been sharing with people we meet is found in Alma 5:40. It talks about how good things come from God. As we continue to be grateful for the things that we have, the Lord will continue to bless us. It has taught me that I must continue to be grateful for what I have and to do it even more! You can never be too grateful!
It amazes me how fast time flies here. It's already the holidays! what?! So fast.
One miracle we saw this week is when we were knocking doors. I asked my companion in a faithfilled manner, "How many people are we going to find today to teach?" and she reassured me that we would find 10. I was a little surprised, but gladly accepted that as a goal! The next door we knocked on was a family of 10! Which is uncommon here. We will go back this week to teach them, we aren't sure how many of them are interested in our message but it will be exciting to see miracles.
One quote that i've come across this week comes from President Uchtdorf. He says, "Be patient and compassionate with yourselves.  Some sacrifices are better than others. You need not wait for a golden ticket to be happy. Never forget the 'why' of the gospel of Jesus Christ will inspire and uplift you.  Never forget that your Heavenly Father knows, loves, and cherishes you." I hope this uplifts and inspires you.
Have a great week! Our Savior Jesus Christ lives and is too good to us. Love you all!

Transfer 4 in WPB

Friends and family!
It has been a little while, I hope you are all doing amazing things and being blessed by God throughout your lives! I know that He is.
Things are going great here :) I will be spending the next transfer in West Palm Beach, I am so blessed. I love it here. Our ward is incredible and it feels like home. It is a blessing to spend the holidays in this awesome ward!
The temp has dropped down and you would think being raised in WY I would be used to colder weather. But going from 100 to 70 degrees is a huge adjustment I have to make! It is so beautiful though.
So Anderson, the one we were working with was baptized!! And he was given the Aaronic Priesthood last week. He is so incredible. Pictures to come.
I am low on time this week, but thanks for your love and support! Love you all!

Everyone! I hope everyone is doing so good! God is too good and I hope that He has blessed you immensely :) He has me.
This week was so special. Anderson from Haiti, is getting baptized this sunday! he is such a strong example of true conversion to me. He has let Christ take all of his sins and pains and let him take them away. I have loved seeing him grow. he is so special. God has blessed him so much, his first language is creole and he has only been speaking english for 5 months. every time we talk with him, his english is better and better. He is such a blessing in my life!
I was blessed to translate yesterday's sacrament meeting into sign language for my friend Angela and her 2 friends that aren't members of the church. I know that God needed them to learn from coming to church and I'm glad that He was able to speak to them through me.
Miracles are happening every day and i'm so glad that I get to represent Christ for these 18 months. May the Lord bless you and keep you all. Love you! Have the greatest week!

Hey everyone!
Long time no email. It's been a crazy couple of weeks with my new companion! Sister smith is from Preston, Idaho and almost every person we talk to about that comments on Napoleon Dynamite. it's pretty good.

Things have been great here :) It's always cooling down a little more all the time. We are down to 85, which is perfect :)

So I am still currently in the West Palm Beach area. We have been working with 2 people that we knocked on their door. The first is Brooke. We knocked on her door and asked to pray with her, she gave us a really weird look, then said we could come in. When the prayer was through, she had a complete countenance change and was blown away that we had found her. She came to church this week and after we told her about Joseph Smith's desire to learn and the vision he had, she said "Oh, so he was called to be the next prophet?" She has high desires to be baptized so we are continuing to work with her.

The other is Anderson. He is from Haiti, he loves the book of mormon which he reads in Creole, and he has asked about baptism as well. We go over with haitian members and they translate any things that he doesn't understand for him. So cool that we get to work with him, God is blessing us. he is such an example of humility and love to me.

I love the Lord and my theme and adapted saying from this week is "God knows." there are a lot of things that we don't know but as we come to Him with open hearts and a humble attitude, He will let us know His will. I am so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ and for everything He has done for me. I know that He has a love for us that we cannot comprehend!! As we base our own journeys and conversions on Him, then God will not be astray. I am so privileged to come to know Him better and to walk a sliver of the road that He has. Thank you for your examples to me!

Transfers!

hi all :)
this week was transfers and I will be staying here in West Palm Beach :) I'm really excited to continue to work with our awesome ward and to continue to find those that are ready for this truth! God has a lot in store for this area, I pray that I will be able to be worthy to see miracles here.

One miracle from this week happened with a less active member from our ward. We saw his name on a list we had and realized that we hadn't met with him before. We went to his house to introduce ourselves and he was so welcoming to us! Which is uncommon in our ward because a lot of people in our area were baptized, came to church for about a month, then didn't want any association with the church after that. but Jose talked with us and I could tell that his testimony in God and the principles of the gospel haven't changed for him. We went into his house and met his girlfriend Kaitlyn that isn't a member of the church. after a little discussion, they both showed interest in coming to church this sunday. they wanted to get back into the swing of things and Kaitlyn wants to take the lessons!

It's starting to cool down here, down to 88! so that's good. it's crazy what you get used to.

My comp Sister Morrow is transferring out and I will have a new companion tomorrow. We had interviews with our mission president this week as well and he gave me permission to continue to study spanish and to work on gospel terms in sign language! so hopefully that goes well.

I love is here in Florida and most of all, I love missionary work! May the Lord bless all of you. Continue to have high faith in Him and in the events in your life. He has a beautiful plan for all of us.

Our cute 15 year old friend Wilna that comes to teach with us :)

Monday, October 5, 2015

Hey everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed their week! And General Conference! for those that don't know what that is, it is where the prophet and apostles gather together and give us counsel from the Lord to help us out with our lives and to help us come closer to Christ. I know that these men are called of God and gave us the messages that we need to here. If you weren't able to check it out, go to lds.org and listen!

We had some awesome miracles this week that just testified of God's timing. This week's miracles came through our ward! A mother of a recent convert that we had gotten close with was sent to the hospital this week for an emergency. We had plans to go see her and to try our best to uplift her, but our day seemed to change and we had way too many plans, plus we needed to knock for an hour as well. We chose to knock for an hour to be exactly obedient and afterwards, we had people call us and cancel appointments for that evening. Our schedule cleared up so we chose to go see this member. As we pulled into the hospital parking lot, we saw our high priest group leader and the 1st counselor in our bishopric, there to give her a blessing!! God's timing is so perfect and He wanted us all there at the same time to help her. It was a very touching experience!

I know that God is very aware of all of us. We are His children and we are all very special to Him. he loves us with a perfect love that we can't even comprehend! In times of hardship and struggle, confusion or difficulty, Jesus Christ has been there. He suffered for our sins so that He can know best how to help succor us. That is truly a love that we will never be able to understand. But I know that God has given us the keys and tools to be completely happy and that He is very merciful to prepare a perfect way back to be with Him. And that is through Jesus Christ. I love Him so much for His sacrifice. I love you all! thanks for your testimonies to me!

Partake of the bread of life, or else you're toast

Hello people! So this week we past by a church that had that line on their sign. Pretty funny!

We've had such a good week :) we do a lot of knocking on doors and prayers with people to help them feel the spirit in their home. It's really cool to see people recognize the Spirit and desire to have that in their life all the time!

We are working with a girl named Jessica who is our bishop's sister. Our bishop just got called and he is 31, been married for 2 years, and has been a member of the church since he was 15. he was such an example to his family, that it inspired Jessica to be baptized! That will be this next sunday and we are so excited for her. She really has been prepared by the Lord for this truth and is ready to make this commitment with God in her life!

It is starting to rain less and less here so hopefully we get out of this hurricane season without anything. Even though, not going to lie I wish i got to experience even just a tiny one! maybe next year.  It is starting to cool down though and it's constantly 85 degrees every day. Perfect weather :)

We have a lot of people we come across here as we knock on doors! this week we knocked into a lot of Haitians that spoke english. Interesting thing about haitians, the creole language is very boring. English is a colorful language and creole is black and white. So they are used to hearing things straight forward. So we've learned to not be casual with them and to just get the point across! they are really kind people though.

It's been a good one! Hope everyone is doing well. Love you all!

So hurricane Erica was supposed to happen this week! turns out it flipped around and decided to head another direction. Guess I'll have to experience that this next month some time! for my Wyoming people, all the locals here tell me that they would rather experience a hurricane than a snowstorm. So they think we have it worse. I would have definitely guessed the hurricane would be worse!

This week we saw many miracles! So about 3 weeks ago Sis. Morrow and I were biking to an appt and there was an old lady that had her hazard lights on and she was in the middle of the road. We stopped and pushed her car to the side of the road and she was sweating a lot because her A/C was off. We gave her some applesauce that we had, some water, and in invite to church. Well, 3 weeks later, she came to church! and one hour of church talked about tithing and fast offerings so she paid some fast offerings! We will be going back and teachin her this week.

Our progressing investigator named Natalie came to church this week which is a blessing! she has had a lot of car probs and hasn't been able to but she came and all the speakers talked on things that were so important for her progression in learning.

Yesterday for the first time since i've been here, we saw the ocean! Florida doesn't smell the best so it was awesome to smell the salt water coming off the surface.

I get to stay in West Palm for another transfer which is a blessing! We're finally starting to figure out how everything with the ward and area works!

I challenge everyone to notice the little miracles you see in your day! I've seen a big change in my gratitude towards our Heavenly Father by writing down the little things He does for me. I love our Savior Jesus Christ so much and I'm so grateful I get to be a part of His work. I know that He is always there to help and bless us, we just have to be humble and ask for it. Not only ask for it, but be willing to accept the answers He gives us! Love you all and may God bless :)

RE: HURRICANE ERICA haha just kidding.

, hi Sweetie your email could not have come at a better time. It's so exciting to hear about your people. You are in my prayers & on the prayer roll at the temple all the time
. I woke up today to my sewer clogged and sewer water in the furnace room & the hall downstairs. I was on my way To Teisas and had a meltdown. I had a realtor's tour schedule for Thurs.   have done everything I can do to sell the house, nothing was working.  I was in tears when I got to Teisas. I had called a plumber and knew it was going to cost a fortune to fix. I picked up Court and took her to preschool. Got a text from T that said " Have you read Kylie s email today. I pulled over and pulled it up. Needless to   say it made me cry so hard I couldn't see. I sat there and thought about how many blessings I have been blessed with & felt ashamed of myself. I told HEAVENLY Father how sorry I was & how much I appreciate all I have.
I went to lunch for my visiting teachers.
I told the girls my story.. Linda Newman one of the ladies I visit, told me I have insurance through the city if the problem is outside. It was so it isn't going to cost me a penny  to have it fixed. Tender mercies. And an angels reminder.  Thanks for letting me lean on your testimony    love you so much.
Keep up the good work.  Gram

Florida..... It's a weird place

Hey y'all! Hope everyone is doing awesome!

Today I'm going to share some interesting facts/ weird things you see in Southern Florida.

1. all sprinkler systems here smell like sulfur and rotten eggs.
2. Once while biking this week, we stopped at a stop light and a guy drove up with blaring jazz music and out of nowhere... he's playing his trumpet. Out the window. It was like jazz band karaoke.
3. Instead of saying gunna, or going to, everyone says finna. For example, "I finna get you some water."
4. I meet more haitians than any other race here. I wonder if there are any haitians left in haiti! haha.
5. In the middle of saying prayers with people we meet, we have to pause after every sentence because odds are, someone is going to say "amen" or "praises" in the middle of your prayer.
6. Stake conference consists of Haitians, Latins, African Americans, and white missionaries. 2 of the 3 songs we had for conference were sung in Spanish.
7. I have learned to say "We are missionaries for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" in spanish and i'm working on learning door approaches and what to say when I want to give someone a card on the street.
8. The Florida sunsets are the most amazing things I've ever seen!
9. Blinkers on cars are just an indication that you are from out of town. No one here uses them at all. Plus if you are at a green light for longer than 1 second, then you have 15 upset drivers that begin honking at you like crazy!
10. There are so many made up churches here. This week we knocked into a pastor that organized his own church that took a piece of every religion and combined into one.

I love Florida! The people are weird, but they are so awesome as well! I'm doing great, thanks for the prayers!

One month down... WHAT??

Hey everyone! Hope you've all been good!

So this week's story is about Tony. he is so awesome and though he wont be baptized this month, he will be in september!  We were in a lesson with him and a member of the bishopric that we invited over and at the end, we were going to pray then the spirit told us to tell him, "Tony, after this prayer, let's stand in silence, with our eyes closed and see what God wants us to hear." he prayed and we stood there. the spirit was so strong in my heart. I opened my eyes and so did Sis. Morrow and Bro. Jean Charles (he's haitian). tony stood there for a long time with his eyes closed and when he opened them, his face was glowing and he said "I have NEVER felt that way. Ever." He was able to feel the Holy Ghost speak to him! It was a game changing lesson and it was awesome to see myself be a tool in God's hand. I love being a missionary!

things are staying busy here! I love it so much. Missionary work is the coolest thing and I'm so glad that i get to be a part of it!

Hope everyone is good :) keep on keeping on and keep on trusting God! He loves you all so much!

Week 1 in FLORIDA

Hey everyone!!

I want to start by saying thanks so much for the love, prayers, and support.  I truly feel it here in the field.

I love my companion to pieces. Her name is Sister Morrow and our companionship is truly inspired!! She is exactly what I need and is filled with infinite love for me and pushes me to become better every day!

I love the people of florida.  They are all so humble.  There are so many people here that we basically are sifting through the streets to find those that have been especially prepared.

We are teaching a 17 year old boy that wants to be baptized and wants to be a missionary!! Jahmeer is such an amazing kid that has already gone through so much.  I know that he is meant to hear the gospel now along with many others that we are finding.

Short and sweet this week, but things are great!  I know that i'm meant to be here and I will tell more stories next week. Thanks for everything!

Sister E from the MTC

What is up crew!!

Hope everyone is doing super awesome!! I love and miss you all.  Y'all are so great.

Two words to describe how things are going here: So good.  More than good.  I love it here.  Our district which consists of 9 missionaries, is the total bomb.  We are a huge family and know so much about each other. Most of the missionaries are from Utah but there is a sister from Canada, and Elder from Idaho, and an Elder from Boston.  They all know me as the Wyoming hick that shoots guns for fun, rides fourwheelers, and they make fun of how I talk sometimes which I don't think I really sound like they make me sound. Whatevs.  They also know me as the only sister in the zone that can play basketball and is good at it.. .  That's also a sick joke but cool that they remember me that way!

I have grown so much already, it's so crazy.  I have learned to pray more effectively, how to study effectively, (which I REALLY need in my life because I'm so distracted a lot of the time) and how to work well with others.  I am so blessed with the knowledge I have of Preach My Gospel already, some missionaries are struggling with those lessons.  But it has been so good.  I've also learned to make good use of my time.

Right now we are teaching 2 investigators.  The first lesson with the first was so awesome then all of my dreams were crushed when a sister told me they were MTC teachers.  The second investigator is a real investigator and it's been cool to see the spirit take the words from my mind and out of my mouth.  Because i'm pretty sure that Kylie would say something super stupid.  I love being set apart as a missionary and having the companionship of the Holy Ghost.

Next tuesday we fly out to the sunshine state, I'm super stoked.  MTC is so sweet but I'm ready to be out of the classroom and to not have dinner at 4:30 at night haha.

Thanks so much for the love and prayers, I can definitely feel them.  I hope you all remember that you have so much potential and can do so much good in the world.  I know that as we come unto Christ and have a desire and willingness to change, He will help us do that and so much more.  If we could only see what the Lord has in store for us.  Instead, we'll have to find it out for ourselves.  I know Jesus Christ lives and love you.  He is the very center of missionary work.  I know that He walks with us and when he isn't walking with us, He is carrying us.

have a good week!! Catch ya on the flip side.
